Need a Programming Idea – SHRM Offers Competency Based Education for Chapters

Check out SHRM’s Competency Based Education for Chapters.  You will see two (2) 1.5 hour programs to address topics based on the SHRM HR Competency Model.  This is free of charge for SHRM Chapters and Councils in good standing, it is a multi-media presentation, includes easy to use facilitator guides and is accessible via the VLRC – note, SHRM will need a five (5) day lead window to approve the request to use it…this is a great idea for chapter programming.

Monthly SHRM Recertification Live Chats

If you are a SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP credential-holder, join SHRM to ask the SHRM Recertification Counselors any questions you have about SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP recertification—regardless of where you are in your recertification cycle.  This is a great opportunity to learn how to make the most of the resources available to you and to clear up any areas of confusion.  SHRM’s Recertification Counselors are here to help.

Live chats will happen the second Wednesday of most months at 2:00 pm ET (for 30 minutes)…upcoming dates are April 11, June 13, July 11, August 8, October 10, November 14, and December 14.  NOTE — This is an online Q&A chat.  Any questions you have can be submitted into a text box (there will not be audio).  Also, after you register, you’ll receive a confirmation e-mail with a link to the online chat room.

Register for the live chat here.

To remain SHRM Certified you need to Earn 60 PDCs within a 3-year recertification cycle that ends on the last day of your birth month or take the SHRM Certification exam.

SHRM Learning System Champion Info

Is your chapter a SHRM Learning System Champion?  You become one by either partnering with a SHRM Education Partner to promote an instructor-led course that uses the SHRM Learning System and/or host and administer a facilitator-led SHRM Learning System study group.

Below is a list of ways to promote a Chapter Study Group. Complete at least three (3) of the items below to qualify for recognition. SHRM suggests implementing these at least four weeks prior to the study group/course commencement:

  • Post course or study group notification on the chapter’s website
  • Place announcement in chapter newsletter, if applicable
  • Place the SHRM Learning System tile ad on the chapter’s home page
  • Announce the course or study group at a chapter event
  • Send an e-mail blast to members to promote the course or study group
  • Post a message on LinkedIn or other social media group pages
  • Promote course or study group at state HR conferences or regional meetings

If you’ve accomplished this, register here and be recognized at SHRM VLS in November 2018 and you will receive a SHRM Learning System Champion recognition tile ad to place on your chapter’s website.

SHRM Certification Preparation from SHRM

SHRM is hosting both a 3-day in person SHRM Certification Prep Seminar at various locations within the United States as well as 3, 7 or 9-week virtual options. Learn more here.

HR Professionals Can Now Earn California Micro-Credential

HR professionals who practice in California, work for an organization that has operations in California or serve clients who do business in California have a new opportunity to demonstrate their mastery of that state’s unique legislative and regulatory landscape. In late February, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) introduced its California Employment Law Micro-Credential, which is designed to recognize an HR practitioner’s state-specific expertise.

Visit SHRM’s California Employment Law Micro-Credential page for more information.
