INDIANAPOLIS — HR Indiana SHRM donated a number of picnic tables to Girl Scouts of Central Indiana following the conclusion of the 2018 HR Indiana Conference, which was recently held at the J.W. Marriott Hotel and Indiana Convention Center, August 20-22.
During the conference, the picnic tables were used to accommodate seating for more than 1,600 attendees in the exhibit hall which featured a circus-inspired “Under the Big Top” theme. Being the largest human resources conference in the Midwest, ample seating was required while attendees ate lunch and spoke with more than 175 exhibitors.
HR Indiana SHRM was thankful to have the picnic tables sponsored by National Corporate Housing and Century 21 Scheetz Relocation Services during the HR Indiana Conference.
The conference planning committee, acting on behalf of HR Indiana SHRM, is thrilled to benefit Girl Scouts of Central Indiana, a local organization with ties around the state of Indiana thanks to programming offered at a variety of camps.
The picnic tables will be distributed among the following locations:
- Camp Gallahue in Brown County
- Leadership and Learning Center in Marion County
- Camp Na Wa Kwa in Clay County
- Camp Sycamore Valley in Tippecanoe County
- Camp Dellwood in Marion County
“We are so appreciative and excited about this donation because all of our camps needed new picnic tables. Some of our picnic tables at Camp Dellwood are from the 1960s and the frames are made of very heavy steel. We will finally be able to replace those old tables,” said Tim Phillips, director of properties for Girl Scouts of Central Indiana.
“Camp Gallahue needed some tables this summer to be used on the deck of the lodge, at the beach, and in the meadow, and we weren’t able to provide all they needed. Now we’ll have plenty,” according to Phillips.
