SHRM + JAG

SHRM + JAG

Submitted by Tiffani Ewing, HR Indiana SHRM Workforce Readiness Director

The Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program is a state-based, national non-profit organization dedicated to helping high school students of promise who have experienced challenging or traumatic life experiences achieve success through graduation. JAG is a resiliency-building workforce program that helps students learn in-demand employability skills and provides a bridge to post-secondary education and career advancement opportunities. Currently there are 130 JAG programs available throughout Indiana, which consistently graduate approximately 95% of participants, with many students choosing to continue their education post-graduation. Since 2008, SHRM has been committed to building local networking support for JAG students using the workforce readiness expertise of SHRM chapters and state councils. A partnership with HR professionals on the local level provides mentorships and other resources to match the needs of students and help them prepare for jobs after high school, while also successfully addressing the skills gap. To learn more about JAG and how your chapter can help with SHRM’s commitment to the program, visit https://www.in.gov/dwd/jag/.
