Q: Why did you get into HR?
A: I actually stumbled into HR through the staffing industry right out of college.
Q: What do you love most about your job?
A: At least one time every day, I am able to contribute to employees’ lives in a positive way.
Q: What is a professional challenge you faced and overcame?
A: I am naturally very cynical and don’t actually like processes that don’t make sense, but I’ve learned how to use that in a positive way.
Q: What has been one of your greatest professional accomplishments?
A: My job today allows me to work 98% within my strengths — not many people get to say that.
Q: Why is SHRM membership important to you?
A: There’s so much value in the network. I stay connected with lots of friends, old and new.
Q: How has being a member of SHRM helped you in your career?
A: I have been able to hold a number of board positions that gave me all kinds of development opportunities.
Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
A: I’m a voracious reader. I also enjoy cooking and organizing.
Q: Who or what inspires you?
A: I work for a very strong, very successful female boss. She’s pretty inspiring.
