Q&A WITH TIFFANI

Q: Why did you get into HR?

A: Funny enough, not by choice. I was moved into a new hybrid HR/Compliance role by my previous CEO. I was very upset to leave my old role but it did not take long to love everything HR.

Q: What do you love most about your job?

A: The opportunity to connect and interact with a variety of people. There is never a slow or dull day, which can be a blessing and a curse. But having the chance to make an impact in someone’s life on a daily basis is very rewarding.

Q: What is a professional challenge you faced and overcame?

A: I think everyone has had roadblocks set on their path. What stands out in my mind is the attitude you take on in these situations and what you take with you in the end. Perseverance is a key quality I hold very high. I know I will get through the struggle, but it’s up to me to determine my mindset and remember each situation leaves you with a lesson.

Q: What has been one of your greatest professional accomplishments?

A: I’m a fixer. After taking on the hybrid HR role, I knew HR was where I wanted to be. Two years later, I took on the position of hiring and recruitment for five years and exceeded the set standards year after year. I was then given the role of Associate Director of HR with the intent of stepping in to the Director role. Once arriving in the Director role I once again started to build out the position and shape the department to move forward. Where we have come in just about three years is a huge accomplishment.

Q: Why is SHRM and HR Indiana SHRM membership important to you?

A: The SHRM website and HR Indiana SHRM are all things HR, all the time – and it is wonderful. I have used the SHRM site and HR Indiana SHRM resources countless times. Such a great tool for any HR professional.

Q: How has being a member of SHRM helped you in your career?

A: I was looking for a way to network within my local HR community and was referred to our Chapter by a previous Director. Being a member has provided the networking connections but has also developed friendships and supports I would not get anywhere else.

Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

A: I love puzzles. Late last year I finally broke down and purchased a huge wooden puzzle board. Now its all puzzles all the time. I also love to read, listen to music, a regular at Street Parking, and finding new things to do with my family.

Q: Who or what inspires you?

A: People who take chances, move outside their comfort zones – and aren’t deterred by failure.
